U.S. Department of Labor Defines 5 Key Areas of AI Literacy -- Campus Technology
The United States Department of Labor (DOL) has released a new AI Literacy Framework detailing key aspects of AI literacy as well as 'delivery principles' for effective AI literacy training.
One of the things AI literacy hasn't caught up with yet is that these are no longer just word prediction machines formed in training. They act now, for most informational queries, like a 'fancy search result" summarized, diced, categorized, or pureed; but still a search result.
In my talk in a couple weeks for Canada's Let's Talk Science online conference I'll talk a bit about how we need to spend a much less time on descriptions of training and the math of latent space and much more time on how search tool use forms results. Understandimg this is going to have far more positive impact on student skills, and contrary to what many believe it's not that much of a mystery how such processes succeed and how they fail. You can teach it to a third grader.
